Havelock Europa PLC provides interior design solutions for corporate customers. There is a lot of hands-on work involved in manufacturing and constructing furniture and fittings and the company was concerned by the number of hand cuts logged in the accident book. On investigation the management team found two possible reasons: one, staff were often failing to wear protective gloves at all and two, the gloves they did wear were not sufficiently hard wearing. So they switched to TraffiGlove.
WHICH TRAFFIGLOVES AND WHY?
Havelock sourced several different TraffiGloves to ensure they had the protection required for many different tasks. These were TG122 Agile and TG165 Motion (Cut Level 1) for general handling tasks, TG315 Action and TG350 3 Digit (Cut Level 3) for precision and fiddly work and TG535 Secure and TG562 Dynamic (Cut Level 5) for higher risk tasks such as handling sheet metal.
The TraffiGloves have made a real difference to Havelock. They've seen a dramatic fall in the number of hand accidents being reported and almost 100% compliance. This has persuaded them to implement a mandatory glove policy, based on the use of the TraffiSafe 3 colour system, and TraffiGlove products, to ensure everyone is wearing the right TraffiGlove for the task in hand.
